The Downs Family Comes to Town!

Last month, Paul, Jen, Eric and Sara came from Florida to visit!  It felt like forever since we had seen them last, so we were so excited they were coming, and they were able to finally meet Ben!!

We were so happy to see them all, and miss them so much already.  I can't even express how amazing it was to have our two families together for even the brief time we got to spend with them.  We can't wait to visit them down in Florida!

The Park

 

We went to the park on Sunday.  Ben saw squirrels for the first time - or at least he noticed them for the first time!

We are so thankful for our first stroller, and were sad to see it go, but I think we all knew it was about time for a new one! ;)

Ice Age: Continental Drift

Ice Age: Continental Drift came out on Friday!  Matt and I both worked on this movie, but I only worked on the very beginning of production, so it was fun to see the finished movie!  The whole family has their name in the credits - Ben's name is under "Blue Sky Babies".  Matt is actually in the credits twice because he was a voice in the movie!  He was the "Teen Elk" that slid down the waterfall and got his antlers burnt!

Go see the movie, and keep your ears peeled!

Four Months!

Ben is four months old today, and it's been a busy month!  Road trips, drive-ins, and meeting lots of new people!
Somehow, though, we still had time for a little chillaxin'.

This kid is awesome.  He is so much fun, and is such a sweet little boy.  He's been extra sleepy lately, which is nice in some ways, and of course adorable - but I kind of miss him when he's sleeping.  Some days I feel like I didn't get to hang out with him enough, even though I spend the whole day with him!

• He has started drop-kicking his legs a lot... that's usually what wakes us up in the morning and lets us know that he's awake!  He'll bring them way up in the air and pound them on the ground with so much force!

• He has started trying to put everything into his mouth.  Every. Thing.  Whatever he's holding, he'll look at for a second, and then try to jam it as far into his mouth as possible!  Luckily, he can only hold what is in arm's reach for now!

• He is no longer content to lounge back on the pillows we prop him up with.  He tries to sit up constantly!  Which is exciting, but he's also still wobbly, so he doesn't stay sitting for too long before he starts to topple.

• I posted a video of this the other day, but he likes being on his tummy so much more now!  He can still only handle a few minutes, but he's doing great!  He's even rolled over a few times!

• He gets so excited to see us now.  He'll grin and squeal, and wave his arms and legs like crazy!  He usually does it most in the mornings, and right as he's about to fall asleep for naps or at bedtime.

• He's gotten so much more focused and controlled with his body.  He still flails some, but he's able to grasp things with a lot more purpose than before.

• He started sleeping in his crib at night, and for most of his naps.  He's still in our bedroom, though, since we're in a one-bedroom apartment!

New Best Friend

Forget the balloon, my purse is Ben's new best friend.  It's a great listener!

Usually he's pretty loud when he babbles, but he was talking so sweetly and softly to the purse!

Drive In!

We all went to the drive in on Friday night and saw a double feature of Brave and The Avengers!  We had a blast!
